Do you need a good pair of glasses to read route guide sheets and the GPS display screen?

Following interest in my cycling glasses over the years, I am providing details below of the selection I keep: -

YellowGlasses

Yellow 1.5 & 2.5 magnification diopter-bifocal, wrap around lens   RainbowGlasses

Stylish gold mirror wrap around lens. (no diopter-bifocal)

TortoiseShell

Tortoise Shell 1.5 magnification, diopter-bifocal, wrap around lens

My gold mirrored glasses are great for the cyclist's eye protection, being in almost intimate contact all around the eyes. The shading is fine on a bright day but may be a little dark on a dull day depending on your preference. These are for sale at £15 including postage.

Reading an audax route sheet or your GPS display may prove more difficult as your eyes deteriorate!

My bifocal wrap-around glasses will enable you to see the text much more clearly while protecting your eyes from UV radiation and insects. These glasses incorporate a magnifying diopter window positioned exactly where needed to see the road ahead and to focus very clearly on the guide sheet or GPS with no more than a small eye movement.

The tortoise shell glasses have dark brown bifocal lenses and these are great on bright days, reducing glare and protecting the eyes. I prefer the amber, or rather yellow lensed glasses which also have the magnifying diopter window. These are fine in bright and dull days. The yellow and the tortoise shell are each for sale at £18 including postage.

This a close up photo of the diopter-bifocal arrangement on the yellow lensed glasses of 1.5 magnification.

I confess that I don't understand how the diopter works, as it does so well. It is not just a simple magnifying glass of fixed focal length!

Other magnifications are available but not in stock and will of course cost more, ordered in small numbers.

If you would like to try a pair of my glasses, on a 'sale or return' basis, then email rossjeal@gladestry.com or call 01544.370312

You can pay by PayPal, cheque or cash!

Description of the tortoise shell and yellow lensed diopter-bifocal glasses: -
